The Top Five Places on my Travel Bucket List

With it being summer and officially holiday season, I’ve been looking constantly through travel blogs, guides and god knows what else at all my top destinations, just wishing I could go to all these places. But when there’s so many places you want to go, it can be pretty hard to narrow it down to actually choose where! So I decided to compile the 5 places at the top of my travel bucket list, to give some sort of guidance in what to save up for!

Ever since I read Philip Pullman’s Northern Lights when I was about 8, I’ve dreamt and dreamt about going to see the Northern Lights for real. And as they’re so elusive, in my opinion Iceland is a fantastic place to go and try, as there’s so much else there to see and experience! From the famous Golden Circe and Blue Lagoon, to the black sand beaches and the colourful capital, there’s so much to do and I 100% want to see it all! The only problem is that Iceland is notoriously expensive, but one day I’ll make it there!

The Atacama Desert, Chile:

I’m not sure there is anywhere I’m more excited to go than here. Although it’s the driest place on the planet (which might make people think it’s boring), there’s so many wonderful things to experience in this surprisingly diverse place. There’s flamingos, volcanoes, geysers and the Valley of the Moon – and they all look stunning!

Recently Gareth and I started saving up for a trip to China for my 21st birthday, and looking up different tours is just making me more and more excited! We’re currently at looking tours which take you all over China, as while there I want to see as much as possible – particularly the Chengdu Panda Research and Conservation Centre, the giant Buddha statue at Leshan and of course the Great Wall!

Machu Picchu:

In my opinion, Machu Picchu should be on anyone’s bucket list. I first heard of it after studying Pablo Neruda’s poem, The Heights of Machu Picchu, and have been in wonder by it ever since. There’s several options for getting there, including a one day hike, the Inca Trail trek and by train, so there’s really something for everyone! This one would be a good one to visit at the same time as Chile – so a tour of South America is definitely something I’m considering!

The Maldives:

Recently I read a blog post on the Maldives, and after looking at all the photos, I was in love. This would be the perfect place for a relaxing getaway, and I can imagine myself never wanting to leave!

Which places does everyone want to go to? Comment below!

  1. Great list – I haven’t been to any of these either. Costa Rica would be the top of my list followed closely by Macchu Picchu. All of your places are on my list too – I’m not into relaxing holidays so Maldives appeals slightly less but I still definitely want to go!

  2. Great list! I’ve been to Iceland, and I can tell you it’s AMAZING! My bf and I did a roadtrip around the entire country, and we managed to save money by camping at each stop during our road trip and also cooking our own food. Otherwise, it’s all expensive there as you mentioned. You HAVE to go sometime! 😀

  3. I definitely hope to go to Iceland one day! I lived in ShenZhen, China, for a year, and I’d go back in a heartbeat–I hope to go back and see more of China within the next year or so
